Meet the Team
The Immersive Virtual Environments Laboratory is run by the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics (VECG) group in the Computer Science Department at UCL.
Prof Anthony Steed
Anthony is the head of the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group at UCL. His research area is in real-time interactive virtual environments, with particular interest in mixed-reality systems, large-scale models and collaboration between immersive facilities.
Prof Mel Slater
Mel is a part-time professor of Virtual Environments at UCL and an ICREA Research Professor at the University of Barcelona, Spain, where he leads the Event Lab. His major research interest is the question of what makes virtual reality work: how is it possible to build virtual environments such that people respond realistically to events within them?
Dr David Swapp
David Swapp is a research fellow in the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group, and manager of the Immersive Virtual Reality Laboratory since its inception in 2000. He collaborates on a wide range of research and experimental work in the laboratory, with particular interest in how human perceptual capabilities can influence the design of immersive systems.
Dr Will Steptoe
Will is a senior researcher in the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group at UCL. His research interests are virtual, mixed and augmented realities, telepresence and 3D interaction.
